
Yearly
maintenance that should be performed once a year.
1. Sterndrive should be removed and the following
items check
(a) Check bellows area for water or oil (no water
or oil should be present).
(b) Check gimble bearing for roughness--Replace
if necessary, if OK grease.
(c) Check engine alignment.
(d) Check U-joints for roughness--Replace if necessary,
if OK grease.
(e) Clean and grease input section.
(f) Drain sterndrive oil--Check for presence of
water and metal on Chip dectors on drain plugs.
(g) Check trim system for proper operation.
(h) Check shifting system for proper operation.
(i) Check zincs for deterioration.
(k) Check propeller for damage--Repair or replace.
(l) Clean propeller shaft and grease.
2. Engine Maintenance
(a) Check tune up specifications.
(b) Check and clean flame arrestor.
(c) Change oil and filter.
(d) Change fuel filter.
(e) Check charging system.
(f) Check battery system.
2. General Boat Maintenance
(a) Check electrical system - lights, horn,
bilge blower and bilge pump for proper operation.
(b) Check emergency equipment - fire extinguisher,
life vest, thowable devices and signal devices for expiration dates.
(c) Check anchor and anchor line for wear and damage.
(d) Check boat fender for damage.
(e) Check that boat registration is in boat.
